Civil engineers and their clients are impacted on various different public policy fronts.   Recently enacted & proposed state/federal legislation, changes to the regulatory framework, and legal decision can all significantly alter a land development project under consideration.  Learn what is new in the government affairs environment so you can better help your clients navigate their projects to completion.

Gaye Lynn Criswell & Molly Deger, CCCD

Representatives from the Chester County Conservation District will provide important updates to attendees.  Anticipated topics covered will include the managed release policy as well as NPSE e-permitting status.

11:00am-12:00pm – Floodplain Restoration SWM Projects – How Are They Performing?

Cory Rathman & Ben Ehrhart, LandStudies Inc.

Several floodplain restoration projects have been implemented to also serve as the primary stormwater management control facility for large land development projects in Lancaster County, PA.  Three of these sites are being monitored to verify that they are performing the intended peak attenuation, volume reduction, and water quality functions, as required by permit authorizations.  This presentation will review these projects and summarize over three years of monitoring data which indicates that they are indeed performing as intended, and in some cases outperforming model predictions.   In addition to stormwater management function successes, habitat restoration, water quality improvement, downstream flood attenuation, and community and agency reaction to these projects will be discussed.
